Amelanchier Canadensis

SERVICEBERRY
NY, US

This native shrub/tree goes by many names, including Saskatoon, Serviceberry, Shadblow, and Juneberry (although Juneberry is misleading in Zone 3 - it ripens more into July in the North). Depending on the cultivar, the blueberry-like fruit may be red to blue, or almost black. Delicious fruit. Scions only.

American

PLUM
NY, US

Small tree loaded with sweet tasty fruit and a good pollinator, excellent for wildlife garden also. Available as scionwood or hardwood cuttings (unrooted), which when rooted can be used as rootstock for grafting Japanese/American crosses. Wood is thin. Have some rootstock - call for price.

American Beauty Berry

MISC-FRUIT
MO, US

Callicarpa americana; indigenous to Louisiana and Arkansas; formerly sold as "French Mulberry" but this is incorrect on both accounts; actually a member of Verbenaceae family. Low spreading shrub; purple berries not edible raw but used in Arkansas winemaking (past and present); zones 6-9.

American Pawpaw

PAWPAW
MO, US

Seeds of "improved" varieties; will be sent in FALL only; the seed is notoriously short-lived. Fruits borne in clusters; ripens early Sept. here; tree prefers partial shade and plenty of water. Not to be confused with the Australian "PawPaw" or papaya, which is unrelated. These seeds are of mixed Susquehanna, Campbell's, and Overleese parentage; selected for large fruit and lack of "burnt" taste.

Ananasnaja

KIWI
DE, US

(Actinidia arguta), female, late season Russian var., name means "pineapple-like," hardy kiwi with vigorous-growing vine, begins bearing at 3-4 years, bears heavily, 1-1.25" long, cylindrical fruit, smooth skin, green with a rosy-bronze blush, this good-flavored, reliable bearer is a good choice, most fruits tend to ripen at nearly the same time. It seems to me this would be a sturdy rootstock to graft others onto.

Anjou

PEAR
NY, US

Large short-necked green fruit, very pleasant mild white flesh with nice aroma, early to bear, fruit ripens in mid-late October here, stores until February in refrigerator if harvested at the correct time and retains its flavor. Very good all-around pear, prolific bearer. Highly recommended. Late 18th-century European pear.

Apricot

APRICOT
CO, US

A very large, very old (>100 yr) tree in Boulder, CO. Original tree cut down in 2021, but I have a copy with plenty of scion/budwood. I believe this may have been a co-state champion tree.

Ashe Juniper

MISC-FRUIT
MO, US

The rare "Ozark White Cedar" (Juniperus ashei) which grows in the wild in only 5 counties of MO and 9 counties of AR; a distinct population is also found in Edwards Plateau in TX; one of Missouri Nature Conservancy's first projects was reintroducing this species to Branson area in 1950's and halting logging of stands near the state line. Berries are purple; historically favored for seasoning and preserving venison; also medicinal uses. Habit is more spread-out and sometimes multiple-trunked like the Western junipers; wood is bright yellow. From property near Theodosia, MO; berries available in January and February; start in acidic soil medium.
