A slow-growing relative of the Sugar Maple, native to the Rocky Mountains. It is similar to the sugar maple, but both leaves and tree are smaller. Intense fall color. Can be used to make maple syrup. CA, US

Birdsfoot Trefoil, originally native to Eurasia and North Africa, is a spreading legume known for its nitrogen-fixing capabilities. This plant species exhibits adaptability to a wide range of soil textures, but it thrives particularly well on medium to fine-textured soils. Birdsfoot Trefoil displays fair tolerance to acidic conditions and salt, which contributes to its ability to grow in diverse environments. Notably, this plant performs admirably in wet and poorly drained sites. It is recognized for its palatability and is considered a non-bloating forage option. As a result, Birdsfoot Trefoil is used both for livestock and wildlife forage, making it a valuable resource for animal grazing. Additionally, it serves as an effective erosion control plant, aiding in soil conservation and land management efforts. BG17

Davis Green

COTTON
CA, US

Gossypium hirsutum x G. barbadense. An intentional cross between Pima cotton and a Louisiana green cotton, selected by weaver and hobbyist cotton-breeder Phreadde Davis in Albuquerque to create a richer color and longer fiber. The lint color is variable, sometimes pale green, olive, blue-green, or brown. It is said to produce a longer fiber than most green cottons. Warmer weather and more mature plants produce a darker green fiber. Boil the fibers (usually after weaving) to bring out the color … additional washings will deepen the color further. A warm season crop that requires hot weather over a long season (180 days). Can be grown as a perennial in sufficiently mild climates.
