Asclepius tuberosa (Orange butterfly weed) is pollinator friendly and a native plant in North America.Bright orange flowers bloom from late spring through summer and attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Asclepius tuberosa is a clumping perennial and not invasive, growing 1 to 2 1/2 feet tall. Seed can be planted outdoors in the late fall in a prepared seedbed. The seed can also be grown in pots from late fall to mid-winter outdoors where it will experience snow and cold. As the weather warms up in the spring, the seed will germinate.
