New York Early

VEGETABLES / ONION
COMMON
100 days from transplant (zone 4B) — Vigorous early yellow storage onion. In 2017, I planted 285 plants. I selected the best looking 104 bulbs from the harvest and stored them over in my basement. I planted the bulbs out in April 2018 and harvested dried seed heads 8/13-8/23. From 2018 Fedco Seeds: “(98 days) Open-pollinated. Superior strain of Early Yellow Globe select-ed for storage until early spring. New York Early was maintained by commercial onion growers in Or-ange County, NY. Very firm mild yellow onions may be eaten raw in salads or sandwiches. They average 2½–3" across and store longer than Early Yellow Globe. “My fave, sweet & tender,” evaluated one of our tasters. Adapted from 38° latitude to southern Quebec.” Learn more: https://www.fedcoseeds.com/seeds/?item=2449
