Fairly uniform with the exception of 1 plant that is darker green in color and leaves are much more blistered. Leaves are ovate and have a slightly lobed outline and wavy margin. Leaves have high to moderate blistering and an open angle. Above average heading capabilities. Plants measure 9.5-17 inches tall and 23-38 inches wide. Excellent eating qualities. Described as earthy, sweet, and low bitterness. This is an heirloom variety of collards from the late Pauline Moore Whitted of Snow Hill, North Carolina. Pauline was born in 1917 in Snow Hill. She received this variety from her father, William Moore (1872-1943), who always saved seed. Pauline sold her collards to the IGA grocery store in Snow Hill for years. In 2004, Pauline shared some seeds and their story with Dr. Edward Davis, a professor of geography at Emory & Henry College, who was collecting heirloom collard strains for preservation on behalf of the USDA. Seed Savers Exchange requested this variety in 2016 from the USDA collection (PI 662823). SSE Accession # 133050 USDA, 2016
