Classic French dessert apple often seen in paintings of the Renaissance period. Medium to large fruit. Oblong or conical shape with uneven longitudinal ribbing. Pale green or yellow smooth skin lightly blushed with red. Fine grained tender yellow-white flesh. Aromatic with an acid flavor. High vitamin C content. Slow cropper when young; becomes a heavy bearer. Excellent for sauce, cooking, dessert and cider. Scab resistant. Ripens in October. Zones 6-9.
