FBN4: Large, solid, strikingly bright red fruit. Smooth, waxy, medium thick skin. Crisp, fine grained, aromatic, white flesh. Mildly acid flavor. Excellent dessert apple; good for baking, sauce and pies. Fine processing qualities. Tart at harvest time; quality develops in storage. Small to medium size tree bears heavy crops annually. Blooms early; ripens late. Pollinate with Summerred, Spartan or Lodi. Somewhat susceptible to fire blight and powdery mildew. Some resistance to scab. Ripens from mid to late October. Zones 3-7.
