White Pippin

Roundish to roundish oblate fruit of medium to large size. Skin is greenish yellow with reddish orange to brownish blush. Flesh whitish to yellowish white, firm, crisp, tender, moderately fine textured to a little coarse, juicy, sprightly subacid; very good to best quality for dessert kitchen and market use. Ripens late. Zones 3-6. Introduced by the 1840's, may have originated in Virginia from the south branch of the Potomac River. SSE Accession # 100388 NCGR-Geneva
