Reinette Gris

NOTE: Only available Jan through Mar. Ships Mar/Apr. Unique shaped, medium to large sized, very flat apples (occasionally oblong) with deeply indented calyx end. Skin: light yellow splashed with dull red to orange, more or less covered by thick rough russet. Flesh fine textured, firm, crisp, aromatic, sweet subacid flavor. Origin: France; known in the early 1600's. Often known as Grey Reinette. SSE Accession # 100494
