Bush bean. Dry bean. White flowers. Plants 13-22 tall. Pods mature from green to yellow at the mature stage. Fully expanded pods are slightly curved with a strong suture string and measure 3.75-5 long and about 0.5 wide. 2-4 seeds per pod. Seeds white with yellow-brown coloring at the top of the seed. Seeds are oval and medium in size. High yield and late season when grown in 2015 at Heritage Farm. Good as a dry bean, but best as a shelling bean. Shelling beans are sweet, fruity, moist, and smooth. Donated to SSE in 1981 by John Withee of the Wanigan Associates. Withee received the variety circa 1977 from the Abundant Life Seed Foundation. It was described by CV Abu as a fresh or dry shelling bean from eastern Washington. SSE Accession # 101594. SSE BEAN 981
