Donated to SSE in 1981 by John Withee of the Wanigan Associates. Withee received the variety circa 1978 from Verna Parshall of Denver, CO. This variety was developed by J.R. Hepler at the University of New Hampshire in 1946. It resulted from a cross between French Horticultural and Gage, a New Hampshire horticultural bean. Prof. Hepler's son, Billy, offered the bean in the Billy Hepler Seed Company 1947-1953. SSE Accession # 101722. SSE BEAN 1181
