Bird Egg

VEGETABLES / BEAN
DRY-BUSH
085+ days, semi runner, seed approx. half brown/half white GN 1983 Kent Whealy. Given to me on loan from Kent Whealey. Saw the beans description in a 2006 issue of the SSE yearbook then reaquired this bean from that member (John Staples in 2013). When the seed arrived I recognized it as Bird Egg, and had grown the bean in the early 80's. Since the bean has been traded among SSE members for nearly 3 decades the bean seed seemingly now shows some differences from Bird Egg #2 which this bean is related too. The bean was known as BN 1453. However when I reacquired a sample of Bird Egg #2 (a name change by SSE BN 1453) The ratio of white to brown on John Staples sample was not the same, being much more white. Upon growing John Staples sample it grew just as he had sent it to me. From the older yearbook history these are the members and years where the bean has been acquired. NY ST J '13, IN FU A '91, MI ST R '88, IL CR R '86, Growners Network '83.
