Bright scarlet, oval-shaped roots. 2" long and 1-1.5" wide at market maturity. Crisp, white flesh with a few red speckles. Slightly pungent with average flavor. Short tops. Early maturing. This accession matches the description of Vick's Scarlet Globe listed in F.W. Bolgiano and Co. Tested Seeds for the Garden and Farm 1903. This variety was first introduced in 1884 by the James Vick seed company of Rochester, NY. This variety was donated to SSE circa 2000 by SSE member Lawrence Hollander of Massachusetts.
