Vick's Scarlet Globe

Bright scarlet, oval-shaped roots. 2" long and 1-1.5" wide at market maturity. Crisp, white flesh with a few red speckles. Slightly pungent with average flavor. Short tops. Early maturing. This accession matches the description of Vick's Scarlet Globe listed in F.W. Bolgiano and Co. Tested Seeds for the Garden and Farm 1903. 'Early Scarlet Globe' (reportedly a synonym of 'Vick's Scarlet Globe') was listed as a new variety in the 1885 James Vick seed catalog of Rochester, NY.
