S. melongena. Elongate fruit are purple-black, slightly curved, and have very few prickles. Fruit are borne singly and tend to rest on the ground and curve. Market mature fruit measure 8.1-10.5" long, 2.2-2.7" wide, and weigh 5.4-11.7oz. Fruit turn yellow-brown at seed maturity. Smooth texture with no bitterness. Plants reach up to 3' tall. Green leaves, stem, and calyces. Light purple flowers. Very productive and vigorous when grown in 2023 at Heritage Farm. SSE Accession # 109683
