66 days, Hearty bean flavor is the trademark of this popular type variety. Crisp, meaty stringless, 9" long pods stay tender. Light brown seeded. More productive than bush types. According to the authoritative work, "Beans of New York," its other common names included, American Sickle Pole, Eastern Wonder, Egg Harbor, Georgia Monstrous Pole, Improved Southern Prolific, Missouri Prolific, Old Homestead Pole and Texas Pole. This popular variety was grown throughout the South by the 1850s, it was introduced in Kentucky just prior to the Civil War, this classic variety has proven its excellence through the test of time. It was first mentioned in publication in an 1864 edition of "Country Gentleman" magazine under the name, 'Texas Pole'.  Then in 1877 it was reintroduced by James J.H. Gregory and Sons of Marblehead MA as "Kentucky Wonder."  Under this name or one of its many synonyms, it has been one of the most popular beans of all time.
