VEGETABLES / WATERMELON-CITRON
Introduced into the 1997 Yearbook by Dr. James Wolfe (TN WO J), but removed after 2015, when SSE was unable to verify minimum stewardship requirement. Wolfe commented on this variety "some melons red, some yellow, striped or solid green rind, good taste, very hardy, grown with little maintenance." Documented description of intentionally maintained phenotypic variation. I grew single plant/multiple fruit yielding yellow striped melons, and did not observe variation this year, but I plan to grow more next year for further evaluation.
