Evergreen Hardy White

In 2015, I planted these White bunching onions as a spring transplant from seeds from Johnny's Selected Seeds. I overwintered part of the patch and they produced a very healthy crop of seed from 78 plants. I love these onions either planted in the spring for green onions or planted in August for overwintering and extra early green onions. I highly recommend. Seed produced in 2023 with population size of 100. Description from 2016 Johnny’s Selected Seeds Catalog: “The most winter-hardy bunching onion. Sow in spring for summer use or sow in fall for overwintering. Little or no bulbing. If your winters are severe, this is the one to grow. May be handled as a perennial by dividing the clumps the second summer to produce a new crop.”
