Black Sweet Potato

C. argyrosperma. Cushaw type. Large pear shaped fruit with smooth skin that is dark green with orange-ish-yellow markings. Fruits measure 12-16.5" long, 8.5-12.5" in diameter at the widest part, and weigh up to 20 lbs. Pale orange flesh about 1" thick. Poor flavor. Dry matter content 11.43%. BRIX reading 7.0. Vining plants. Moderate productivity when grown in 2015 at Heritage Farm. Seeds are delicious and would be great for roasting. Donated to SSE in 1984 by the late Curtis Showell (MD SH C).
