Green leaves with golden yellow veins and petioles. Glabrous leaves. Plants are 15-25" tall and 21-34" wide. Largest leaves average 7.6-15" long and 4.8-10" wide. Standard flavor; leaves astringent and bitter, petioles with a hit of sweetness. Slightly chalky/acidic flavor that becomes muted following frost. Acquired by SSE from William Woys Weaver (PA WE W) who obtained the variety from CV Se2. It was originally developed in France in the 1830s. SSE Accession # 121312
