FRUITS-BERRIES-NUTS / APPLE
Rushock Pearmain is a medium-to-large sized apple highly esteemed for fresh eating. While largely russetted, we hesitate to call this a true "russet" apple due to the lack of typical russet qualities (pear-like, late season, etc). The flesh is yellowish, crisp and firm. Juicy and tart with a very distinct flavor. Keeps up to four months in cold storage. This apple is a favorite of the SSE Orchard Collection Manager. Rushock Pearmain was originated by blacksmith Charles Taylor in Rushock, Worcestershire, England around 1821.
