Waimanalo Long

Market mature fruit elongate, straight to slightly curved, dark purple, 3.75-8' long, 1.5-2.5" wide, and 5-9oz. Plants up to 2' tall. Stems and leaves green, petioles greenish violet. Leaves pubescent with weak lobing. Flowers purple and borne singly. Prickles present on fruit and calyx. Seed mature fruit yellow/brown, 8-10" long, 6-7" wide, and 17-24 oz. Low productivity, afflicted by bacterial wilt, and mid-season maturity when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. Dense texture, mild to subtle flavor. Selected by the University of Hawaii.
