Ewing Popcorn

Popcorn. Yellow kernels. Ears range in size from 2-4.5"; average width of 1". Plants approximately 6-7' tall with 1 or 2 ears per stalk. Grown by Mike Rininger in 2025 for the Collection Documentation Project; Mike recommends the variety and commented that a 20-20-20 fertilizer was applied during the growing season. A summer thunderstorm significantly lodged the plants, but Mike went ahead and hand-pollinated what was available. Mike found the popped corn is a little smaller than commercially sold popcorn, but very good and there were almost zero un-popped kernels. SSE Accession # 108085
