Continuity

Butterhead. Light green leaves have extensive burgundy coloring. Leaves are obovate, highly blistered, and have a wavy margin. Leaves measure 7-8.3" long and 9-10.6" wide. Plants measure 6.3-7.5" tall and 14-17" in diameter. Plants formed a moderate, loose, circular head and was early bolting when grown in 2015 at Heritage Farm. Black seeded. Very tender variety is moderately sweet and with low bitterness. According to WW Weaver, Continuity may be a synonym for Merveille des Quatre Saisons. Field evaluation in 2015 at Heritage Farm confirms that these varieties are similar. This accession matches the descrption of Continuity listed in Burpee's 1902 Farm Annual. SSE Accession # 111774
