Chinese Multi-color

C. annuum. This is a hot pepper with medium-high heat. It has a medium-low sweetness and a fair flavor. The walls are fairly thick, though soft. The fruit are small and conical with glossy skin. They have an erect growth habit on the plants. The name is somewhat of a misnomer as the fruit are not really multicolored. There is a slight orange intermediate stage, but the fruit don't stay in this stage for very long and it is not distinct. The fruit matures from a pale green with purple blush to dark red. The plants are erect and moderately branching with purple flowers. Low productivity when grown in 2019 at Heritage Farm. SSE Accession # 118042
