VEGETABLES / BEAN
SNAP-BUSH
Snap/bush. Great flavor, few strings, great crunch and juicy texture. Bushy plants have short runners that tender to sprawl and climb. Straight, smooth, green pods are slightly curved and constricted. Pods develop a strong suture string. 5-6 seeds per pod. Mature pods are yellow. Fully expanded pods measure 5.6-6.3" long and 0.6" wide. White flowers. Small, white, oval seeds. Early-mid season maturity. Above average productivity when grown on Heritage Farm in 2018. Donated to SSE by Tom Knoche (OH KN T) who described this variety in the 1993 SSE Yearbook Exchange as a "most unique bean from eastern KY, Grandma Ferguson passed way last fall having remained totally independent till the end (age 93), she got these from her mother as a wedding gift 60+ years ago." Therefore, SSE estimates this variety dates to at least the 1930s. SSE Accession # 103636
