VEGETABLES / PEA
EDIBLE-PODDED
2-3' tall snow pea. Pods are a little more fibrous and astringent than other snow peas. Curved, light green pods measure 2.5-3.5 inches long. One to two pods per node. Purple flowers. Moderately productive in 2018 at Heritage Farm. Susceptible to powdery mildew. Mid-season maturing. The late Jerry Gabrielse of Cazenovia, Wisconsin donated this variety to SSE in 2012. Jerry received the pea variety from his uncle, Al Heinen, in about 1990. Al Heinen said his mother, Wilhelmina "Minnie" (Wieberdink) Heinen, brought the seed to the United States when she emigrated from Holland in the late nineteenth century. Wilhelmina settled near Sheboygan, WI. SSE Accession # 131613
