Fort Portal Jade

Semi Runner Dry. Blossom White. 80 days to the start of dry pods. An interesting, unique and beautiful shade of color for a bean . Seed is green, smooth, and one of the roundest of a beans I have ever seen. No doubt, the result of selection for color by generations of farmers. The beans origin is from around the area of Fort Portal , Uganda. Discovered in this African country, and named by American seed, and plant collector Joseph Simcox (The Botanical Explorer). Who had originally arranged a shipment of the seed to be shipped to Richters in Canada. The local people in Uganda that had grown the variety simply called it a bean.
