Dry bean. Strongly climbing pole bean. Round, dark, red-purple, medium-sized seeds. Curved, green pods. Pods become yellow and develop very faint red stripes at maturity. Pods measure 4-5" long. Strongly contracting dry pods. 4-7 seeds per pod. Non-pigmented plants. Pink flowers. Intermediate productivity when grown in 2015 at Heritage Farm. Late maturing. This variety was given to Wilma Gayheart by her father, Ransom Stephens. He first received seeds of this variety in the late 1930s from his wife's uncle, Alex Bailey, near Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Wilma stated that her family typically plants the beans in corn, after the corn plants are 4-5" tall. Donated to SSE in 2003 by Wilma Gayheart of Tiro, Ohio. SSE Accession # 105728
