Large oblong fruit is green with dark green stripes. Fruit has significant grooves. Fruit is 8-13 inches long and 7.85-10 inches in diameter. Fruit weigh up to 25 pounds. Flesh is pink. Thicker rind about 1 inch thick. White seeds. BRIX reading 10. Long season variety and not all fruit fully matured when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm. Flesh is sweet, but very stringy. Donated to SSE by Wade Wofford (CA WO W). This variety dates to the 1880s and is named for Nancy Tate of Georgia who discovered it. Wade's father, Daniel Wofford, stated that the Wofford family grew this variety up until the 1950s when they lost it. They were able to recover seed from Nancy Tate's son, Avery Bryan of Lyerly, GA.
