VEGETABLES / TOMATO
RED
Italian heirloom from the Billera family. Over 100 years old and almost vanished. One of my top two favorite tomato varieties. Tall, indeterminate vines bear 5-6 in., long, pointed-tip fruits. Flavor is outstanding. Few seeds, high pulp. Sauce is amazing.
Small stem/core. Can be picked 2/3 red and will after-ripen beautifully. Long shape makes it easy to peel and can. Sells out at markets, once folks get a taste! Long shape also means less contact/pressure bruising in baskets or crates.
Seed originally from Alberto Vazquez, VA. I've grown this in isolation for over 30 years for a reason...superb, rich flavor. 2019 seed crop grown on grafted rootstocks for longer/better production. No other tomato varieties in area (isolated). Provide tall, strong supports.
