He originally received the beans in the mid 1990s from his neighbor, Nancy Taylor Mitchell, while living in Dallas, Texas. Nancy received them from her aunt, Lillie Taylor Milazdo, of Texarkana, TX. The beans were passed down to Lillie's sister, Mamie, from their mother, Ida King Taylor (b. 1874) of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Used by the family as a snap bean. SSE Accession # 131758
