VEGETABLES / TOMATO
PINK-PURPLE
Pink, globe-shaped fruit typically in clusters of two. Very meaty interior. May make a good paste or canning tomato. Fruit size varies between 2-9oz and averaged 2-2.5" across by 2-2.5" inches high. Smooth skin with few blemishes. No heavy ribbing. Very good tomato flavor. Regular leaf type. Lower productivity. Plant does not like high heat for too long. Some pest damage but not blossom end rot. Grown by Timothy Tuck in 2024 and 2025 for the Collection Documentation Project; Timothy commented they loved the meaty texture and good tomato flavor but was suprised to find the color of the tomato pink, instead of purple. In 2025, Timothy planted the variety in a more fertile location than in 2024, and noted it was more vigorous early in the season when rain was abundant. Medium productivity in 2025; short-lived plants; seemed to prefer cool rainy weather. Donated to SSE in the early 2000s by Bill Minkey (WI MI B). This variety was bred by the late Joe Bratka (NJ BR J) and introduced into the SSE Yearbook circa 2000. It is not a family heirloom as previouly thought. SSE Accession # 126612
