Sweet Granite

Smaller fruit elliptic in shape with yellow-orange skin and green spots that may disappear at maturity. Skin is warty and lightly corked and has superficial ribbing. Fruit 3.5-5" long, 2.5-4" wide, and weighs 0.3-1.5 lbs. Mid-season maturing, low productivity, and susceptible to anthracnose when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. Taste is very subtle possibly due to harvesting overripe fruit. Acquired by SSE in 1982 from the Abundant Life Seed Foundation (CV Abu). Originally released in 1966 by Elwyn Meader, plant breeder at the University of New Hampshire. SSE Accession # 112905
