Raspberry, Black

Single Image
FRUITS-BERRIES-NUTS / MISC-BERRIES
{iRubus occidentalis}, an Ozarks icon. Thorny canes with black raspberry fruit in May, following the April blooms. Leaves are white underneath. Berry juice can be made into jelly, wine, or vinegar; black raspberry contains ellagic acid and is not to be confused with Thimbleberry. Canes must be kept upright or else they may bend back to the ground and adventitiously re-root on the other side, making a hoop. This is a strange trait which I have never quite seen in any other plant besides raspberries. Live start will be sent.
