C. annuum. Mirasol type pepper. Finger-shaped, erect fruit mature from green to red. Fruit are smooth and taper to a point. Some immature fruit have purple (anthocyanin) stripes. Thin walled, but tough skin. Mature fruit measure 2-2.5"" long by 0.3-0.4"" wide. Plants grow 1-1.5' tall. Green plants have purple nodes. Highly branched canopy. Non-pubescent stems and leaves. White flowers with exserted stigmas. High productivity and some lodging when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. A very pungent and spicy pepper with little flavor. Heat begins in the back of the throat and expands to the entire neck. Donated to SSE in 1997 by William Putnam. This variety was passed down to Putnam from his parents who grew the peppers in Birmingham, AL. They originally received the variety in about the late 1930s from a now unknown person.
