Determinate plants grow up to 30 inches tall. White flowers. Stems have grey hairs. Seeds are round, yellow/tan colored with a brown ring around the eye. Average productivity and later maturing when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm. Dry seeds are nutty and earthy. This accession matches the description of Tortoise Egg listed in the 1938 Illinois Agricultural Experiment Station Bulletin number 443 "A study of soybean varieties with reference to their use as food." Donated to SSE in the early 2000s by Robert Lobitz (MN LO R) who acquired this variety from the USDA. Reportedly from Japan. SSE Accession # 119461
