VEGETABLES / TOMATO
RED
First found as a volunteer in Charlottesville VA in 2021, growing six feet tall next to a fenced chicken yard. Has recurred without intervention every year since. Seeds saved in 2023 and grown in Winchester, VA.. 99% germination (eventually). Late to develop in every way, but worth it. Hardy, disease-resistant. Transplants very well (after appearing to have died). Grows well against a fence; slow spindly growth until it falls over and finds support, then flourishes. First fruit is tart, then very sweet after two weeks. Six plants were left in 6-inch pots in a greenhouse, and currently reach the ceiling, on the floor and growing out the door.
