C. chinense. Hot, squash pepper. Fruit mature from green to yellow. Flattened, convoluted fruit have a wrinkled surface; pendant. Thin but tough walls. Highly pungent, especially in placenta. Heat is persistent. Mild flavor is masked by heat. Mature fruit measure 1.2-1.7" long, 1.8-2.4" wide, 0.4-0.8oz. Plants grow 2-3' tall. Green plants with purple nodes. Highly branched canopy. Moderately pubescent stems and leaves. White flowers with exserted stigmas. Average productivity, no lodging, and mid-season maturing when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. SSE received this variety from Gerald Adaway Sr. (TX AD G) in the early 1980s. Adaway originally got the pepper circa the late 1960s from Edgar Simmons of Silsbee, Texas. SSE Accession # 116055
