Concho

C. annum. Hot pepper. New Mexican type pepper. Fruit mature from green to very dark red. Elongate fruit are pointed and somewhat wrinkled. Fruit measure 2-3.5 inches long, 1 inch thick and weigh up to 0.5 ounces. Plants with green and purple stems with light green leaves and measure 22-29 inches tall. This is a very thin walled pepper that is very hot with has some off flavors. Donated to SSE in 2010 by John Swenson (IL SW J) who acquired the variety from Steve Scott of Underwood Gardens (CV Und). This variety was collected by Steve Scott in Concho, AZ who indicates it's little known outside of northeast Arizona. SSE Accession # 131330
