DRY-BUSH
Dry, bush bean. Seeds are large and kidney-shaped with a heavy, dark purple mottling. Good flavor and texture as a dry bean, slightly sweet. Green pods are wide, slightly curved, and reach 5" long and contain 2-4 seeds. Bushy plants reach 1.5' tall. White flowers have pink blotch on standard. Low to medium productivity when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm. Early maturing. Donated to SSE in 1981 by bean collector John Withee of Lynnfield, Massachusetts and the Wanigan Associates. John Withee received this variety from Jim Johnson of Hartland, Wisconsin who stated that it was originally brought to Utah in 1870 from Norway. SSE Accession # 101326
