Pale orange roots; long; slender. Straight to slightly curved roots; intermediate forking tendency; dimpled skin. Flat shoulders, moderately green at stem end. Yellow inner core, pale orange outer core. Low uniformity of core pigmentation. Roots grew up to 7" long, 0.5-1" wide, and 0.5-1.5oz at end of 2014 season at Heritage Farm. Roots can reach much larger sizes, up to 26" long, according to donor Glenn Drowns, who prefers that this variety is maintained only by gardeners with deep soil. Roots have a low splitting frequency and low tendency to bolt in their first year. Fair eating qualities. Drier texture; slightly bitter; lacking flavor.
