Lilium Columbianum

Columbia Lily. Native to Pacific Northwest. Open cluster of 3-7 orange tiger-lily-like flowers at the top of the stem. From what I've seen, they do not grow bulbils in the leaf axils like tiger lilies. Grows 3'-5' tall. I've read that they typically only reach around 3' tall. Of the ones I've seen, those that grow in looser, richer soil among underbrush reach the taller end of that range, whereas those growing in the compacted soil next to the road are on the shorter end. These seeds are from the tallest I had, which was about 5' tall. These were harvested from Pierce county, Washington, US, which is at the south end of Puget Sound. Our elevation here is +/- 700'. I've only seen these growing at the edge of a wooded area among the underbrush. I haven't started these from seed myself yet, but from what I've learned, they aren't the easiest to start. Instructions on how to do so can be found online. Alternating periods of warm and cold are recommended to aid germination. I indicated organically grown - however, this is not an organically certified piece of property. We just do not inorganic methods on our land, and these seeds were harvested from a plant growing in the native vegetation. 50 seeds
