Vaux's Self-folding

Green, compact and very erect romaine lettuce. Leaves are very tightly folded and form a large, dense head. Inner leaves are well blanched, forming a nice, yellow-green heart. Few outer leaves. Plants measure 9-12" tall and up to 14" wide at market maturity. Mid-season maturing. Sweet flavor but also a little astringent. Thick leaves have a good crunch. White seed. SSE Accession # 111816
