Chantenay

Short, thick orange roots measure 4-6" long and weigh up to 6 oz. Roots are slightly curved with blunt tips and flat green tops. Interior flesh is light to darker orange from outside to interior. Dense green leaves are highly dissected. Low bolting tendency and no splitting when grown in 2015 at Heritage Farm. Ranked in top 5 for overall taste at the 2015 Seed Savers taste evaluation. A moderately sweet, but very juicy carrot that has a great classic carrot taste. Brix 8.5. Donated to SSE by Janice Carnahan (IL CA J2) who acquired this variety in 2004 from Fredonia Seed Co.
