Brown Netted

This is a great novelty cucumber! The fruit are very interesting and unique. The fruit must be eaten very young, however, when they are about 2" long and still green. When there is a brownish tinge or the fruit is all brown, they are too mature. They young fruit has black spines and is short and straight. The mature fruit looks like a mini melon, round with heavily netted skin. The seed mature fruit is pale green with brown speckles, keeping the netted look. The flesh is green. It is better to peel this cucmber before eating it. The flavor is very crisp and has a mild cucumber flavor. It is not very sweet. The plant has a weakly vining growth habit. SSE Accession # 109390
