Elaeagnus. Spreading shrub with small pitted red fruits; not a true olive but a relative of Goumi. Tannic and unpalatable when unripe; edible later; juice is high in Vitamin C. Invasive in some areas; naturalized widely. Pits sent in fall only. Order before Sept. 1.
