Large, firm, non-lobed fruit, dark red with pea-green coloring at each end, taste is wine sapish with different sweetness, tart overall, winter apple, good keeper, old variety saved from a farm by Larry DesCombs when he grafted failing trees as a child. He sent me scionwood from MO, which I grafted onto rootstock in Spokane, WA, then brought the young trees with me when I moved to Nevada City, CA a couple of years later. He was 70 years old when I got the scionwood from him in 1999. Hope you are still out there and kicking, Larry.
