P somniferum, 3 to 4 ft tall plants, rose red, mostly single flowers, purple blotch at base of petals, blue green, ruffled foliage; large pods have edible seeds; variety is well adapted to southern climate, other CV I have tried cannot mature seeds in our heat and humidity; self-sows readily to germinate in cool , fall weather and overwinter, can also surface-sow in Feb , blooms April >May here; donated by Judith Rives, who got plants from Teresa Johnson at The Plant Lady, a shop in Tuscaloosa, AL
