From Don O'Shea: Flesh juicy, melting with great taste, appears to be self pollinating, probably a Clapp's Favourite seedling. The original tree was cut down by D.O.T. Very special, highly recommended, hardy to at least Zone 4. Must be picked green - if allowed to ripen on the tree, the flesh, especially in the center (core) will turn into mush. Found growing wild in a field next to a drive-in theater.
