VEGETABLES / SQUASH
C.-MAXIMA
Organic Listing
C. maxima. This squash is a stabilized cross between Buttercup and Banana, and looks like a big pink Buttercup squash. 15' vines, 12-15 lb. fruit, good keeper with great taste. It has been grown by German farm families in Culdesac, Idaho, about 20 miles south of Lewiston for 80-100 years. It has been stable for 80-100 years. Most of the seeds are in the bell. The smell and taste of the deep orange rich flesh is terrific. Great in anything that calls for butternut squash. I think even better.
